Ombudsman Jacqueline Sampson Meiguel was awarded the Medal of Merit Gold for Public Service in the sphere of Governance at the National Awards Ceremony held at President’s House on Republic Day 2024.

This medal is awarded to persons who exemplify outstanding and meritorious service to the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago.

 

MEDAL OF MERIT GOLD FOR PUBLIC SERVICE (GOVERNANCE)

Mrs. Jacqueline Sampson Meiguel has been honoured for her yeoman service at the helm of the Office of the Parliament as its Accounting Officer and Head of Department.

As Clerk of the House, she provided advice to members of Parliament on parliamentary practices and procedures.

Mrs. Sampson Meiguel was the longest serving substantive holder of the position of Clerk of the House in the nation’s history.

She has overseen the election of a President of the Republic on six (6) occasions, stood beside four (4) Prime Ministers as they took their Oath of Office and has served under six (6) Speakers during her tenure.

Mrs. Sampson Meiguel now continues her service to the nation as the sixth Ombudsman of Trinidad and Tobago.
